ELF is working to build an endowment, with an initial goal of one million dollars, to provide grants from its earnings. 100% of the funds we raise will serve one purpose; to make possible innovative, hands-on learning programs which otherwise would not be funded by local school budgets.
At no time is foundation money spent on maintenance, administrative or other normal costs associated with education in our local schools.
The foundation is autonomous, and thus not subject to influence from any school, any municipal department or any civic group.
A "blind" review by a volunteer panel is used to determine our mini-grants, called Learning Enhancement Grants. Applicants may include faculty, support services and staff. They are required to encompass some aspect of science, English, math, technology, social sciences or the arts in their proposal. Proposals must be for higher learning which otherwise would not be possible to provide for our local students.
